(A) Subsidy for English editing fee
Guideline
The G-COE program subsidizes English editing fees for young researchers including graduate students, research fellows and assistant professors to promote the submission of manuscripts to international journals.
(1) Eligibility for application
Young researchers including graduate students, research fellows and assistant professors relevant to the G-COE program are eligible to apply for this subsidy. The manuscripts must be examined by a G-COE member faculty whose research is relevant to the manuscript, to approve of the quality of the manuscript as deserving submission to international journals.
(2) Method of application
Send the following information to this e-mail address: wp_gcoecseas.kyoto-u.ac.jp (Yoko Hayami) attaching the manuscript which you intend to send for language editing. Please title the E-mail message as follows: “your name_ application for editing subsidy”
1) Your name (co-authors’ names if any)
2) Your affiliation
3) Title and summary of your manuscript
4) Information regarding the submission (Journal title, Impact factor *)
5) The current number of the pages
6) The name and e-mail address of the G-COE faculty members who has examined the manuscript
7) English editing fee
*The G-COE program encourages young scholars to submit their manuscripts to internationally recognized journals. Many journals in the humanities and social sciences may be internationally well-recognized but without listing of impact factor. In this case, please give a short explanation regarding the international standing of the journal.
Applications will be accepted throughout the year until the end of January 2010 (we are hoping to receive 3 or 4 applications per month, totally 30 or 40 applications per year.) The subsidy will be closed when 30 or 40 applications are completed. Applications will be approved by the division of Publicity and Publication.
You are welcome to submit your manuscripts to the G-COE Working Papers Series as a preparatory step to submitting your manuscript to an international journal.
(B) Subsidy for the submission fee and the positing fee
Guideline
The G-COE program supports the submission fee and the positing fee for submitting papers to internationally recognized journals by young scholars including graduate students, research fellows and assistant professors.
(1) Eligibility for application
Young researchers including graduate students, research fellows and assistant professors relevant to G-COE program are eligible to apply for this subsidy. The manuscripts will be discussed and approved by G-COE publications division. G-COE program covers the submission fee and the positing fee as well as the page charge fee excluding the cost of color printing and separate printing. Application for subsidy must be made after the manuscript has been accepted by a journal.
(2) Method of application
Please send the following information to this e-mail address: wp_gcoecseas.kyoto-u.ac.jp (CSEAS Yoko Hayami) attaching the proof of the manuscripts. When you apply, please title your e-mail message as follows: “your name_ application for subsidy of submission fee”.

4) Information regarding the journal (Journal title, Impact factor *)
5) A copy of the e-mail verifying the acceptance
6) The name and e-mail address of the G-COE faculty members who will confirm that the manuscript is relevant to the G-COE program
7) The submission fee
