演題：Spiritual Entrepreneurship in Zar: A Study on Spirit Mediumship and Religion
（ザール・カルトにみられる精霊の企業家的精神：霊媒と宗教の研究）

要約：

本発表の主要な目的は、ザール・カルトが他の宗教の信仰や実践の要素を取りいれて、自らの力を増すことを通じて要素を再構成する、その企業家的ともいえる能力についてあきらかにすることにある。ザール、すなわちエチオピアその他のアフリカの角地域の国々や中東にみられる多様な憑依現象は、その作用において多元的であるだけでなくダイナミックかつ可変的であると考えられる。このような特徴から、ザールは、キリスト教やイスラムなどをふくむ異なる分野も積極的にとりいれていく。民族誌的な調査をおこなった結果、ザールが、他の様々な知を生産する結節点からなるネットワークのなかで企業家的精神を内に秘めた知の生産拠点そのものである、という私の見方が十分支持できるものと考えるようになった。

The principal aim of this paper is to show zar ’s capacity to take
up elements of other religious beliefs and practices and reconstitute them
by way of augmenting its own power. This study assumes that zar ? a variety
of spirit possession in Ethiopia, other horn of African countries and the
Middle East ? is not only multidimensional but also dynamic and flexible
in its workings. Because of these features, it actively appropriates other
spheres including Christianity and Islam. The information collected using
basic ethnographic methods substantiates the line of argument that the
author has developed, namely zar is an active knowledge production center
in the network of other knowledge production nodes, enshrining it with an
entrepreneurial spirit.
